 Internet Residential Services ADSL
Sunbeach has introduced three new broadband services, SunLight, SunBeam and SunBlaze which operates at speeds from 1Mbps over an ADSL line up to 2 Mbps. Starting at a low charge of $65.00, these high speed ADSL+ services are the best value for money on the market.
If you are one of our current dialup customers and you are thinking of changing to ADSL, change to SunLight. Just call us and we will let you know how easy it is to do.
If you are an existing Sunbeach ADSL customer and would like to take full advantage of one of these new services you may want to get your ADSL line upgraded to a higher speed to take advantage of this. You do not have to do this to use the service, but it is simple to do, just go to http://www.sunbeach.net/ADSL/upgrade/ and fill out the information there. We will take care of the rest!
Along with our ADSL Access, we give you:
- An Internet Access Connection;
- 5 email addresses (yourname@sunbeach.net) so each member of your family will have their private email;
- 100MB of email storage per email address
- 30MB of personal web storage;
- Superior telephone technical support for help answering all of your questions and any problems you may encounter;
- Free Internet setup and configuration of machine if brought to company premises;
- Free spam and virus filtering, allowing you personal control over the mail you receive in your inbox and greater protection from viruses, which may harm your computer.
Rather than needing a second phone line, you can use your existing phone line for both your ADSL and voice services at the same time. We can provide you with all the equipment you require, an ADSL modem and a small box that allows you to be on the internet and use your phone at the same time.
Most lines in Barbados will qualify for ADSL, however you will need to fill out the ADSL Line Application form. We provide these forms at both our Belmont Road and our Sheraton branch office or you can simply download it from this website, fill it out and fax or bring it to us. Once completed and submitted, your line will be tested to ensure that it is suitable, and if it passes, the necessary hardware can be installed to convert your line to handle ADSL.
To access this service you will need an ADSL Modem. Sunbeach offers them, but if you prefer to buy your own from another source, please be aware that you will need to ensure that it will work in Barbados. Sunbeach will not accept responsibility for the installation of any ADSL modems, but may be able to offer assistance.
Some things you should know:
- ADSL is available only in certain areas of Barbados. As more of the exchanges are upgraded, the service will be extended;
- Even though you may live in one of the listed areas, the quality of your line may not be adequate for ADSL;
- While ADSL may be adequate for some small office applications, it is not intended to be a corporate service;
- The ADSL service does not provide for static IP addresses, something business users need;
- There is no guarantee of any level of service on any ADSL connection. As more customers come on line in your area, the amount of bandwidth for each customer may be reduced until your telephone provider adds more bandwidth;
- As with all Internet access provided in Barbados, your Internet Service Provider is responsible only for your connection to the Internet. The quality of the connection between your home/office and the ISP is controlled by the telephone service provider;
- ADSL is considered to be an 'always-on' service. This means that your computer may be subject to attacks from hackers. Sunbeach offers SOHO firewall systems for small office and home office users;
