In a wonderfully restored plantation house, just south of Holetown, Sassafras leaps apart from the status quo. The concept is refreshingly simple -- great food in a casual, laid-back style. A bistro atmosphere with impeccably prepared food that seamlessly merges the traditional and the contemporary. The lunch menu features everchanging sandwiches (grilled chicken with cashew butter and pepper jelly on housemade panini) and salads (The Greek -- grilled halloumi, kalamata olives, sweet peppers, cucumber, and sun-ripened tomatoes) as well as classic Steak Frites and pan-roasted fish. The constantly evolving dinner menu offers grilled meats (molasses glazed pork tenderloin with grilled papaya salsa), seafood, fish and marvelous vegetarian specialties.
