SUNBEACH CONTINUES TO SUPPORT CRICKET (Friday 27 June, 2003 )

FORMER West Indies opening batsman, Sherwin Campbell is currently in Britain where he has been appearing for the Lashings Cricket Club, recognised internationally for attracting high?profile players for exhibition matches.

Campbell's overseas trip has been made possible with assistance from Sunbeach Communications Inc. through its continuing effort to provide support for cricket.

Sherwin, who recorded scores of 80 and 20 in his first game, will be away until September. He joins players such as Craig McMillan, Mark Waugh, Chris Harris, Grant Flower, Sir Vivian Richards, and former colleagues, Jimmy Adams, Stuart Williams and Curtley Ambrose in some 14 matches.

Prime mover in the development of Lashings was former West Indies captain, Richie Richardson. Along with raising the profile of the club, himself introduced a collection of internationally renowned players to the English cricket scene, including Desmond Haynes, Brian Lara, Herschelle Gibbs and Shoaib Akhtar.

On behalf of Sunbeach Communications, Cellular Business Development Manager, Amanda Tudor presented the cheque to Campbell.
